Closing Prices

API Enterprise

Region-wide closing prices for a single date. One request returns the open, high, low, close and volume of every covered listing in the requested region, each carrying the full instrument-identity block so it joins straight onto your own security master.

Each listing reports its last trading day on or before the requested date, looking back up to a week, and the row's date says which day that was — so a listing that did not trade on the date (a local holiday, a halt) is still present, and visibly so.

The universe is point-in-time: a historical date includes the listings that have been delisted since, so a backtest is not limited to today's survivors. Their identifiers are the listing's last recorded ones, and the ISIN is null where the security no longer has an active one.

Prices and volume are restated into today's terms by default, so a price from before a split is directly comparable with a current one. Pass split_adjusted=false to receive them as they actually traded on the day.

Available Data Points:

  • Date: The trading date these prices are from. (YYYY-MM-DD format).
  • Company: The name of the company issuing the security.

Region and date

Use region to select the universe (a region name, an ISO-2 country code, or "ALL"; defaults to US) and date to select the snapshot day (defaults to today). Prices are quoted in each listing's trading currency, tidCurrency.

Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.

Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a specific date range and set of regions. Requests outside the allowed regions or entirely outside the allowed date range are rejected; a date window that partially overlaps the allowed range is trimmed to it, reported in meta.restriction.

Query Params
string
Defaults to US

Which instruments to return: a region name, a two-character ISO-2 country code, or "ALL" for the whole covered universe. Defaults to "US". An unrecognized value returns 400 invalidRegion.

date

The single date to return data for (defaults to the latest available). Format: YYYY-MM-DD.

boolean
Defaults to true

Whether share counts — and, on the closing-prices endpoints, prices and volumes — are adjusted to today's terms (default) or returned as-was on the data date. Pass false for unadjusted (as-was) values.

integer

Page number within the paginated result set. Must be >= 1. Defaults to 1.

Number of rows per page. The default and the maximum allowed depend on the API tier; a value above the tier maximum is rejected with 400 invalidPageSize.
