Income Statement

API Enterprise

The income statement for one reporting period: revenue down to earnings per share.

Available Data Points:

  • estimatedValues: True when the requested period is beyond the company's latest reported one, so the figures are analyst estimates rather than reported actuals.
  • totalRevenues: Total revenue for the period.
  • costOfRevenues: Direct cost of producing the revenue.
  • grossProfit: Revenue less cost of revenue.
  • sgAndA: Selling, general and administrative expense.
  • rAndD: Research and development expense.
  • dAndA: Depreciation and amortization expense.
  • otherOptExp: Other operating expense not broken out elsewhere.
  • totalOperatingExp: Total operating expense.
  • operatingIncome: Revenue less total operating expense.
  • interestExp: Interest expense.
  • interestIncome: Interest income.
  • earningsBeforeTax: Pre-tax income.
  • taxProvision: Income tax expense.
  • netIncome: Reported net income.
  • normalizedNetIncome: Net income adjusted for one-off items.
  • dilutedAverageShares: Weighted-average diluted shares outstanding.
  • eps: Basic earnings per share.
  • dilutedEps: Diluted earnings per share as reported (net income per diluted share).
  • normalizedDilutedEps: Normalized diluted earnings per share: normalized net income over diluted average shares.

JSON only

The row is one nested 'fundamentals' object whose keys depend on the category, so there is no tabular form to render: these endpoints return JSON only, and 'format=csv' is not offered.

Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.

Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a specific date range and set of regions. Requests outside the allowed regions or entirely outside the allowed date range are rejected; a date window that partially overlaps the allowed range is trimmed to it, reported in meta.restriction.

Path Params
string
required

Where to find the instrument: a venue (exchange symbol, MIC or ISO-2 country) or an identifier scheme (tid, sid, cid, isin, figi). See Identifying an instrument.

string
required

The ticker on that venue, or the value in that scheme. An ISIN, sid, cid or share-class FIGI answers for the main listing only; reference/listings lists the others. See Identifying an instrument.

Query Params
string
required

The reporting period to return: a fiscal year as YYYY (e.g. 2023) or a fiscal quarter as YYYYQx (e.g. 2024Q3, x = 1-4; the Q may be lower case). A period beyond the company's latest reported one returns analyst estimates instead of actuals — see estimatedValues in the response.

Or ask for the latest reported figures instead of naming a period, with either of two case-insensitive selectors:

  • LASTY — the most recent fiscal year with reported figures.
  • LASTQ — the most recent fiscal quarter with reported figures.

Both resolve to actuals, never estimates (estimatedValues: false). The period they resolved to is reported back in resolved.period, while request.period echoes the selector you sent — so a stored request stays reproducible while you can still see which period answered it. A company with no reported figures at all returns an empty 200 with meta.emptyReason, not an error.

integer

Page number within the paginated result set. Must be >= 1. Defaults to 1.

integer

Number of rows per page. The default and the maximum allowed depend on the API tier; a value above the tier maximum is rejected with 400 invalidPageSize.
