Dividend forecasts

API Enterprise

An ORTEX dividend forecast is our expectation for one future dividend of one listing: when it will be declared, its ex-date, record date and pay date, and how much it will be. ORTEX forecasts every dividend-paying listing it covers and updates the forecasts every day from the listing's own payment history, its reported results and the market it trades in. Once the company declares the dividend, the row shows the declared amount beside the forecast.

This feed returns every current forecast, for every listing in the requested region, whose expected ex-date falls inside the window. Every row carries the full instrument identity block so it can be joined onto your own security master. The response is uncharged.

  • Reviewed: true when ORTEX staff reviewed this forecast and the row shows the reviewed values: a review can change the dates, the central amount (Amount P10 and P90 widen to include it) and the kind. false otherwise. The probabilities are always the ORTEX forecast's own.
  • Holdings Amount: ETFs only: the distribution estimated from what the fund holds (its constituents' paid, declared and forecast dividends over the distribution period, net of withholding and the expense ratio, calibrated on the fund's past distributions), beside Amount P50. Null for other listings.
  • Holdings Coverage Pct: ETFs only: the share of the fund's equity weight the holdings estimate covers.
  • Holdings As Of: ETFs only: the date of the holdings file the estimate was made from.

Probabilities

The four outcome probabilities compare the next payment with the last regular payment in the same slot of the payment cycle (the same quarter, half or year): pRaise, pHold, pCut and pOmit (no payment at all) add up to 1. pSpecial is a separate figure: the chance of a special or extra payment around the event, which can come with any of the four. The probabilities are calibrated, which means that across many events a 30% figure comes true about 30% of the time; the published scorecard measures how well that holds.

Amounts and dates

Amounts are per share in the dividend currency, adjusted for splits to today's share count. amountP50 is the central forecast; amountP10 and amountP90 bound the range we expect the declared amount to fall in four times out of five. Forecast dates carry a band in business days (exBandDays, declarationBandDays): the date we expect, plus or minus the band.

Region and window

Use region to select the universe (a region name, an ISO-2 country code, or ALL; defaults to US). from_date (required) and to_date (defaults to today) bound the forecast ex-date and may span at most 366 days; a forward-looking window such as today to a year ahead is the usual request. Events whose ex-date is not yet forecast are not included. Results are ordered by ex-date, earliest first.

Identity and coverage

Forecasts ORTEX could not match to a listing are not included: a row with no listing has no country to place it in a region by, so the feed is limited to well-mapped issuers. Delisted listings are included, but every row's identity columns (company name, ticker, ISIN and the ORTEX ids) are the listing's current values rather than those it carried on the event's date; ISIN is null where the listing no longer has an active ISIN.

Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.

Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a specific date range and set of regions. Requests outside the allowed regions or entirely outside the allowed date range are rejected; a date window that partially overlaps the allowed range is trimmed to it, reported in meta.restriction.
