Short interest with securities lending

API Enterprise

Region-wide short-interest snapshot for a single date with the securities-lending measures alongside: shares on loan, utilization and the cost-to-borrow statistics. One request returns every covered instrument in the requested region, one row per listing.

Every field of the standard short-interest snapshot is here under the same name, plus the lending columns, served from the same daily dataset, so a listing that both endpoints return carries the same values in each. The row set is a superset: a listing with lending data but no short-interest estimate that day is included here with its short-interest columns null, and omitted from the standard snapshot. Built for enterprise consumers: the response is uncharged (no credits), and every row carries the full instrument-identity block.

Region and date

Use region to select the universe (a region name, an ISO-2 country code, or "ALL"; defaults to US) and date to select the snapshot day (defaults to the latest available). split_adjusted=false returns as-was share counts (short interest and shares on loan) instead of values adjusted to today's terms.

Lending figures are per security

The lending market reports a security, not a listing, so every listing of one security carries the same shares-on-loan, utilization and cost-to-borrow figures. Sum them across listings and you count the same loans more than once. A listing with no reported lending that day has these columns null.

Migrating from v1

This endpoint replaces the v1 enterprise short_interest/daily/short_history and short_interest/daily/data routes. Their columns are renamed: estimatedSiShares is siShares, estimatedPcFreeFloat is siPctFreeFloat (bounds likewise), and onLoanPcFreeFloat is sharesOnLoanPctFreeFloat. v1's as_is flag is split_adjusted=false. Decimal columns keep v1's declared six places.

Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.

Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a specific date range and set of regions. Requests outside the allowed regions or entirely outside the allowed date range are rejected; a date window that partially overlaps the allowed range is trimmed to it, reported in meta.restriction.

Query Params
string
Defaults to US

Which instruments to return: a region name, a two-character ISO-2 country code, or "ALL" for the whole covered universe. Defaults to "US". An unrecognized value returns 400 invalidRegion.

date

The single date to return data for (defaults to the latest available). Format: YYYY-MM-DD.

boolean
Defaults to true

Whether share counts — and, on the closing-prices endpoints, prices and volumes — are adjusted to today's terms (default) or returned as-was on the data date. Pass false for unadjusted (as-was) values.

integer

Page number within the paginated result set. Must be >= 1. Defaults to 1.

integer

Number of rows per page. The default and the maximum allowed depend on the API tier; a value above the tier maximum is rejected with 400 invalidPageSize.

string
enum
Defaults to json

Response format. "json" (default) or "csv".
