ETF funds

API Enterprise

The universe of exchange-traded products ORTEX sources directly from issuers and exchanges: one row per fund, or per share class of a fund, with its identifiers, issuer, listing, classification and lifecycle. This is the reference list the other ETF endpoints key on.

Built for enterprise consumers: pull it weekly to refresh your fund master, join the daily and history endpoints on ortexFundId, and use updatedAt to diff against your last pull. The response is uncharged (no credits).

A share class is not a fund. European issuers report assets at both levels, and summing both inflates every total, so a share class row carries shareClassOf naming its parent. When you aggregate, count share classes and skip rows that other rows point at.

Available Data Points:

  • Ortex Fund Id: Stable ORTEX identifier for the fund or share class. Key on this.
  • Ticker: Listing ticker, as the issuer states it. Reused across venues; not unique on its own.
  • ISIN: International Securities Identification Number of the share class, where the market has one.
  • Exchange: Listing venue as the issuer states it (a MIC where given, a venue name otherwise).
  • Country: ISO-2 code of the listing country.
  • Exchange Symbol: ORTEX exchange symbol the listing venue maps to - the first path segment the history endpoint takes (US/SPY also works, with the country). Null when the venue cannot be mapped; such a fund is reached by country code or ISIN.
  • MIC: ISO 10383 MIC of that exchange. Null when the venue cannot be mapped.
  • Name: The fund's name as the issuer publishes it.
  • Provider: The issuer brand (iShares, Vanguard, Xtrackers), not the legal entity.
  • Product Type: ETF, ETN (note) or ETC (commodity).
  • Listing Currency / Fund Currency: The currency the listing trades in, and the one the fund accounts in.
  • Share Class Of: The parent fund's ortexFundId when this row is a share class; null otherwise.
  • Asset Class, Geo Exposure, Geo Broad, Sector Focus, Size Focus, Strategy: The classification dimensions the money-flow aggregate groups by, as ORTEX labels them.
  • Underlying Index: The index the fund tracks, where it tracks one.
  • Is Inverse, Is Leveraged, Leverage Factor, Holds Derivatives, Is Synthetic, Is Actively Managed: Structure flags. leverageFactor is null for an unleveraged fund.
  • Inception Date / Delisted Date / Is Active: Lifecycle. A delisted fund stays in the list with isActive false.
  • Data Source: The issuer or exchange adapter that owns this fund's daily series.
  • Updated At: When this row last changed (ISO 8601, UTC).

Filtering

Use region to select the listing region (a region name, an ISO-2 country code, or "ALL"; defaults to US), country to narrow to one ISO-2 listing country within it, and active (true/false) to keep only live or only retired products. Omit active for both.

Identifiers

CUSIP is not included: it is a licensed identifier and may only be supplied on custom endpoints. Use ISIN, or ticker plus exchangeSymbol, to join to other sources and to build the history endpoint's path.

Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.

Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a date range and a set of regions. This catalog has no date dimension: a key whose allowed range ends before today is rejected. A region-limited key may only request its allowed regions; any other region, including ALL, is rejected with 403 restrictedRegion.

Query Params
string
Defaults to US

Which instruments to return: a region name, a two-character ISO-2 country code, or "ALL" for the whole covered universe. Defaults to "US". An unrecognized value returns 400 invalidRegion.

string

Limit the result to one country, as an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code (case-insensitive). Omit it for every country covered. A code that is not covered returns 400 invalidCountry, whose message lists the codes that are valid.

boolean

Limit the list to entries that are currently active (true) or to those that have been delisted or retired (false). Omit it for both. Any other value returns 400 invalidActive.

integer

Page number within the paginated result set. Must be >= 1. Defaults to 1.

integer

Number of rows per page. The default and the maximum allowed depend on the API tier; a value above the tier maximum is rejected with 400 invalidPageSize.

string
enum
Defaults to json

Response format. "json" (default) or "csv".
