Bonds

API Enterprise

The ORTEX bond master: one row per bond, tied to its issuer and, where ORTEX covers the issuer's shares, to the same ortexCid our equity endpoints use. Each row carries the bond's terms, its current credit ratings, Eurosystem collateral eligibility, and the latest day of securities lending on it.

Terms are resolved from several sources, strongest first: the bond's own offering document (read by rules and by a model, and stored only where the quoted text is in the document and the two readings agree), national official databases, ESMA FIRDS, the issuer's offering announcement, and the security record. fieldSources names the source of every resolved term, so you can see why a value is what it is.

Lending is from the securities lending market data ORTEX receives daily. A balance on loan is not the same as a short position: much bond borrowing finances dealer inventory. isSpecial marks bonds whose loan fee is in the top 5% of the day's bonds while at least half of the lendable supply is out, the combination research finds informative.

Built for enterprise consumers: page through a region once, then pull incrementally with since, feeding back the largest updatedAt you hold. CSV downloads return every matching row in one file, so they require ortex_cid or since; use the bulk files for a full-universe copy. The response is uncharged (no credits).

Available Data Points:

  • Ortex Bid: Stable ORTEX identifier for the bond. Key on this.
  • Ortex Cid: The issuer's ORTEX company id when ORTEX covers its equity; null otherwise.
  • Parent Ortex Cid: The ORTEX company id of the issuer's listed parent (GLEIF consolidation parent): ties a finance subsidiary's bond to the parent's shares. Equals ortexCid for a listed issuer.
  • ISIN / FIGI: The bond's ISIN and, where known, its FIGI.
  • Issuer: Issuer name, ISO-2 country and LEI.
  • Terms: Currency, coupon rate, type and frequency, day count, floating index and spread, issue and maturity dates, issue price, issued amount, denomination, seniority, guarantor.
  • Call Schedule: Issuer call dates and prices, earliest first, where the offering document states them.
  • Features: Flags such as Callable, Rule 144a, Regulation S, Convertible, Perpetual.
  • Status: active, matured, called, defaulted or inactive.
  • ECB Eligible: On the ECB's list of eligible collateral, with the haircut applied.
  • Ratings: Current long-term instrument ratings from S&P, Moody's and Fitch as published on the ESMA rating platform; null where the agency has none.
  • Lending: As of lendingAsOf: value on loan in USD, share of the issue on loan, utilisation, the average loan fee, and isSpecial.
  • Field Sources: For each resolved term, the source that set it.
  • Updated At: When the row last changed; feed the largest back as since.

Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.

Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a specific date range and set of regions. Requests outside the allowed regions or entirely outside the allowed date range are rejected; a date window that partially overlaps the allowed range is trimmed to it, reported in meta.restriction.

Query Params
string
Defaults to US

Which instruments to return: a region name, a two-character ISO-2 country code, or "ALL" for the whole covered universe. Defaults to "US". An unrecognized value returns 400 invalidRegion.

date-time

Return only rows whose own timestamp is after this instant, for incremental pulls: updatedAt on snapshot endpoints, publishedAt on content feeds. ISO 8601; a value with no timezone offset is read as UTC. Feed back the largest such timestamp you have already stored. On a snapshot endpoint, when since is supplied and date is not, the response spans every date rather than the default day, so a restated figure for an earlier date reaches you. A value that is not a timestamp returns 400 invalidSince.

integer

Return only the bonds of the company with this ORTEX company id (the ortexCid on our equity endpoints): bonds it issued itself and bonds issued by subsidiaries that GLEIF consolidates into it (parentOrtexCid).

string

Return only bonds denominated in this ISO 4217 currency (case-insensitive).

string

Return only bonds in this lifecycle state: active, matured, called, defaulted, inactive. Omit it for every state. Any other value returns 400 invalidSelection.

integer

Page number within the paginated result set. Must be >= 1. Defaults to 1.

integer

Number of rows per page. The default and the maximum allowed depend on the API tier; a value above the tier maximum is rejected with 400 invalidPageSize.

enum
Defaults to json

Response format. "json" (default) or "csv".
