The business themes ORTEX has tagged the requested company with: what the company actually does, read from the business segments it reports to S&P Capital IQ and mapped onto a curated taxonomy (semiconductors, cloud, ev, public_safety, ...). These themes are what the Peers endpoint's source=market set is built from, so this endpoint explains why a company has the market peers it has.
Each row names the theme, how strongly the company's segments support it, and whether it was derived from the segments or set by an ORTEX override. Rows are ordered by score, highest first.
Available Data Points:
- Theme: The theme's name in the taxonomy, as the Themes reference list spells it.
- Super Cluster: The taxonomy group the theme belongs to.
- Score: How strongly the company's reported segments support the theme, 0 to 1. A 1.0 set by an override means ORTEX asserted the theme regardless of the segment text.
- Source: derived from the company's segments, or override set by ORTEX.
Snapshot
A company's themes describe how it is tagged today, so this endpoint takes no date window. A company with no reported segments, or none that map to a theme, returns an empty result.
Provenance
Theme names, scores and override flags are ORTEX's own computation over licensed S&P Capital IQ segment text, and are served in full on every plan that can reach this endpoint. The underlying segment names are licensed input text and are not returned.
Related endpoints
The Themes reference list describes every theme and how many companies carry it. The Peers endpoint, with source=market, returns the peers these themes produce, and each peer row's via field names the theme universes the pair was found in.
Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.
Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a specific date range and set of regions. Requests outside the allowed regions or entirely outside the allowed date range are rejected; a date window that partially overlaps the allowed range is trimmed to it, reported in meta.restriction.
