Global Insider Transactions

API TraderAPI QuantAPI Developer

Insider transactions from official registers and exchanges in 35+ markets outside the United States and Canada, read by ORTEX directly from each venue (Finansinspektionen, BaFin, the FCA's NSM, the AMF, Open DART, HKEX, NSE, IDX, the CMF and the rest) and normalized onto one shape.

Each row is one notification or execution line as the venue published it. The US Form 3/4/5 stream is served by the transactions endpoint and Canada's SEDI is separate; this feed covers everything else.

It also carries ORTEX's 2iQ insider history: about two decades of vendor-compiled insider dealings in these markets and in some no venue feed covers (Japan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Mexico and others, plus Canada before SEDI). That history ends in September 2026. Its rows carry source_code 2iq_; where a venue's own filing of the same trade exists, only the venue's row is served.

Available Data Points:

  • Country / Source Code: The market, and the official venue the row was read from (see the coverage endpoint). Rows from ORTEX's 2iQ insider history carry 2iq_ instead (2iq_jp, 2iq_gr, ...): they were not read from the venue.
  • Company / Ticker / Exchange Symbol / ISIN: The issuer as filed, and the ORTEX listing it resolved to. Ticker and exchange are blank where the filing named an issuer ORTEX has not matched yet.
  • Insider Name / Insider Role / Closely Associated: The reporting person and their role as filed. Closely associated marks a spouse, trust or controlled entity reporting under the manager's obligation. Some venues publish no name by law (Switzerland) or report by statutory body (Brazil); the field is then blank rather than invented.
  • Transaction Type: Normalized across every market: buy, sell, grant, exercise, withhold, subscribe, transfer, other. Nature Code / Nature Description carry the venue's own wording so a mapping can be checked.
  • Date / Transaction Date / Published At: date is the row's ordering date: the transaction date where the venue publishes one, else the publication date. published_at is when the market could first have known, never when ORTEX read it.
  • Volume / Unit Price / Total Value / Currency: As filed. Volume is signed: acquisitions positive, disposals negative. Fields the venue does not publish are null, not zero - Germany publishes money and no share count, Greece shares and no price.
  • Significance: 0-3 conviction score: 3 = discretionary open-market trade, 2 = conscious but off-market (a married deal, a placing), 1 = compensation mechanics (awards, exercises, withholding), 0 = no decision (inheritance, gift, pledge).
  • Evidence: How much the venue told us, independently of significance: full (dated, sized, valued, mapped), valued (money but no share count), unpriced (shares but no price), partial, aggregate (not a single trade), metadata. Read both before comparing markets.
  • Granularity / Is Amendment: trade, daily or monthly; whether the row corrects an earlier one.

Filtering

from_date/to_date bound the row date (optional; default the 30 days to today; at most 92 days with a country or insider_name filter and 31 days without; one issuer's rows are /api/v11/stock/{namespace}/{identifier}/insiders/global_transactions/). country is an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code. transaction_type=buy with significance 3 isolates open-market purchases.

Which venues are served

Only sources ORTEX reads from a public-sector register or exchange under terms that allow redistribution are served row by row, plus the 2iQ history, which ORTEX owns. Venues whose terms restrict reuse feed ORTEX's derived signals only and do not appear here; the coverage endpoint says which is which.

Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.

Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a specific date range and set of regions. Requests outside the allowed regions or entirely outside the allowed date range are rejected; a date window that partially overlaps the allowed range is trimmed to it, reported in meta.restriction.

Query Params
string

Limit the result to one country, as an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code (case-insensitive). Omit it for every country covered. A code that is not covered returns 400 invalidCountry, whose message lists the codes that are valid.

date

Inclusive earliest date. Format: YYYY-MM-DD. Defaults to 30 days before to_date. A row is dated by its transaction date where the venue publishes one, otherwise by its publication date.

date

Inclusive latest date (defaults to today). Format: YYYY-MM-DD. The window may span at most 92 days with a country or insider_name filter, and at most 31 days without one.

string

Insider name (case-insensitive substring match; EDGAR names read SURNAME FIRSTNAME).

string

Normalized transaction type, the same vocabulary in every market: buy, sell, grant, exercise, withhold, subscribe, transfer, other.

integer

Page number within the paginated result set. Must be >= 1. Defaults to 1.

integer

Number of rows per page. The default and the maximum allowed depend on the API tier; a value above the tier maximum is rejected with 400 invalidPageSize.

string
enum
Defaults to json

Response format. "json" (default) or "csv".
