Consensus Estimates

API QuantAPI Developer

Analyst consensus estimates for a whole stock set on a single date: for every constituent of the requested index or universe, the consensus EPS, revenue and EBITDA for each forward forecast period as it stood on that date.

This API returns data for multiple stocks — every constituent of a market index, or of one of your own universes — for the specified date.

A response holds several rows per date, one per forward period - up to four fiscal years, eight fiscal quarters and four calendar years. Every row states its period on both the fiscal and the calendar basis, because the two disagree for most companies: the quarter ending 31 December 2026 is Apple's fiscal FY27 Q1 and Microsoft's fiscal FY27 Q2. Use the calendar columns to compare across companies and the fiscal ones to line up against a company's own reporting; the period end date is the unambiguous key either way.

A weekend, a holiday or a date ahead of the latest snapshot resolves back to the most recent date that carries data.

Period type

Use period_type to return one period basis - annual, quarterly or calendar_year - or omit it for all three. Every row says which it is.

Coverage

Analyst coverage thins with distance: expect 20-40 contributors on the next one or two fiscal years and a handful by the fourth. A statistic is null where the vendor publishes none for that period rather than being fabricated from too few inputs. Calendarised rows for companies whose fiscal year ends far from December are blended from two fiscal years by the vendor and carry no single contributor count.

Source

Consensus is compiled by S&P Capital IQ from contributing broker estimates and captured here daily. Values are the vendor's, scaled to absolute units; the date is when they were observed, which is what makes a point-in-time request possible.

Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.

Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a specific date range and set of regions. Requests outside the allowed regions or entirely outside the allowed date range are rejected; a date window that partially overlaps the allowed range is trimmed to it, reported in meta.restriction.

Query Params
string

The ORTEX index identifier used by this endpoint. Return one row per constituent of this market index, as of the requested date. Pick one from the examples, or type another ORTEX index identifier — the list covers the identifiers published today and is not exhaustive. Matching ignores case, so us500 and US500 are the same index. Supply exactly one of 'index' or 'universe' — sending both, or neither, returns 400 invalidSelection. An unrecognized index identifier returns 404 indexNotFound.

string

Return one row per constituent of one of your own universes, matched case-insensitively by name. Supply exactly one of 'index' or 'universe' — sending both, or neither, returns 400 invalidSelection. A name you do not own, or that does not exist, returns 404 universeNotFound. On a Quant key, a universe holding more than 250 constituents returns 409 universeSizeExceeded; nothing in it is changed. Manage your universes at /api/v11/universes/.

date

The single date to return data for (defaults to the latest available). Format: YYYY-MM-DD.

string
enum

Which forecast periods to return. 'annual' is the company's own fiscal years (FY26, FY27, ...), 'quarterly' its fiscal quarters, and 'calendar_year' the vendor's calendarised years so companies with different year ends compare like for like. Omit for all three; every row says which it is.

Allowed:
integer

Page number within the paginated result set. Must be >= 1. Defaults to 1.

integer

Number of rows per page. The default and the maximum allowed depend on the API tier; a value above the tier maximum is rejected with 400 invalidPageSize.

string
enum
Defaults to json

Response format. "json" (default) or "csv".
