Alt Data catalog

API TraderAPI QuantAPI Developer

Every alternative-data series ORTEX publishes, with its cadence, unit and how far ahead of the reported figure it typically arrives.

Start here. The seriesSlug values this returns are what the observations and signals endpoints take as their series parameter.

Available Data Points:

  • Source Slug: Publisher/feed identifier, e.g. edgar_abs_trustee.
  • Source Name: Human-readable name of the publisher or feed.
  • Publisher: Who publishes the underlying data.
  • Series Slug: Series identifier — the value to pass as series.
  • Series Name: Human-readable name of the series.
  • Description: What the series measures.
  • Unit: Unit of the values, e.g. percent, USD, carriers.
  • Value Type: number, percent, currency, count or text.
  • Frequency: Update cadence of the series.
  • Lead Days: Rough lead over the reported figure, in days. An estimate for ranking, not a promise.
  • Themes: The theme tags the series is attached to.
  • Raw Available: Whether the raw series may be served. false means only derived signals are available for this source.

Series are tagged by theme, not by industry code

A GICS revision changes what a code means without changing the code, which silently alters what any query pinned to it covers. Filtering by theme gives you a set whose membership is stable across those revisions.

rawAvailable tells you which endpoint to use

Where it is true, the underlying data is a public-sector publication and the observations endpoint will serve it. Where it is false, the source is derived from a commercial website and only ORTEX's computed signals are available for redistribution — use the signals endpoint instead.

Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.

Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a specific date range and set of regions. Requests outside the allowed regions or entirely outside the allowed date range are rejected; a date window that partially overlaps the allowed range is trimmed to it, reported in meta.restriction.

Query Params
string

Restrict the catalog to one theme tag, e.g. semiconductors. Series are tagged by theme rather than by a GICS code, so a taxonomy revision does not silently change what a series covers.

integer

Page number within the paginated result set. Must be >= 1. Defaults to 1.

integer

Number of rows per page. The default and the maximum allowed depend on the API tier; a value above the tier maximum is rejected with 400 invalidPageSize.

string
enum
Defaults to json

Response format. "json" (default) or "csv".
