Every business theme in the ORTEX taxonomy: the vocabulary behind the company themes endpoint and the Peers endpoint's source=market set. Use it to learn what a theme name means, how many companies carry it, and how large the peer universes built from it are.
Themes are curated by ORTEX from the business segments companies report to S&P Capital IQ. They cut across GICS: a company with cloud, ai and data_center segments is compared with peers in all three, whatever its industry code.
Available Data Points:
- Theme: The theme's name, as company themes rows report it.
- Super Cluster: The taxonomy group the theme belongs to, e.g. technology or industrial.
- Description: What the theme covers.
- Company Count: Companies currently tagged with the theme.
- Members Total: Listings in the theme's peer universe, the set market peers are correlated within.
- Members Mega, Members Large, Members Mid: Listings in the theme's size splits, where one exists. A split needs at least five members; a theme too small to split reports zero.
Snapshot
A reference list describing the taxonomy as it is now: no instrument, no date window. Counts are refreshed hourly and ordered by super cluster, then theme.
Provenance
The taxonomy and the counts are ORTEX's own, derived from licensed S&P Capital IQ segment text, so the list is served in full on every plan that can reach it.
Try it out! You can test the API with the trial key TEST. Simply include it in your request headers; either here, or add the header "Ortex-Api-Key": "TEST" to your http request.
Trial key restrictions: Trial keys may be limited to a specific date range and set of regions. Requests outside the allowed regions or entirely outside the allowed date range are rejected; a date window that partially overlaps the allowed range is trimmed to it, reported in meta.restriction.
