ETF Holdings

What 10,100+ ETF funds and share classes hold, every day, and what their flows buy and sell, read from the issuers and exchanges that publish the baskets.

Passive money moves stocks, and the only way to see it is to know exactly what each fund holds. ORTEX reads the holdings files that ETF issuers and exchanges publish, for 10,100+ funds and share classes from 70+ issuer and exchange feeds, archives every file exactly as it was published, serves the daily baskets for at least 35 days and each fund's month-end basket after that, and maps each line to the security it is. Go from a fund to its basket, from a stock to every ETF that owns it, or from a day's flows to the buying and selling they imply in each stock.

At a glance

  • 10,100+ funds and share classes with a current basket
  • 3.8m holdings lines on the latest baskets
  • 19,000 stocks with daily flow-implied demand
  • 87% of equity lines mapped to the stock

65.3m holdings lines on file, each one traceable to the issuer's own file, kept as published.

What you can do with it

  • Passive demand. Who owns a stock through ETFs, how much, and how that changes day to day.
  • Flow-implied buying. The passive buying and selling in each stock that a day's ETF flows imply, in dollars, shares and % of volume.
  • Overlap and crowding. Which funds hold the same names, and how concentrated a stock's passive holders are.

Every basket, from the source

Read from the issuer's own file, kept as published, mapped to the stock, and joined to each fund's daily flow.

  • From the source. Issuer holdings files and exchange creation baskets, read directly rather than through a reseller.
  • Kept as published. Every file archived with the time ORTEX fetched it and never overwritten; the API serves daily baskets for at least 35 days and month-end baskets after that, so history is point in time.
  • Mapped to the stock. Each line carries ORTEX identifiers and FIGI alongside ISIN and ticker; 87% of equity lines map.
  • Both directions. A fund's holdings on a date, or every ETF holding one stock, from the same data, with the changes between any two dates.
  • Flow-implied demand. Each fund's daily flow pushed through the basket it held the day before: implied passive buying and selling for 19,000 stocks a day, with no look-ahead. Leveraged and inverse funds are kept out.
  • History back to 2017. US funds quarterly from 2019 from their public portfolio filings, month-ends from 2025 for the largest issuers and from 2017 for a core set of European funds, and daily from every issuer going forward.
