Data Catalog
Every ORTEX dataset on one page: what it is, what is in it and the number that proves it, with a brochure for each.
ORTEX licenses 22 datasets, all on one set of identifiers, all with point-in-time history, and all delivered over the same API, as daily files or on the ORTEX platform. Each page below carries the same text and figures as the dataset's brochure.
- The ORTEX data catalog (PDF): every dataset on a single page.

Delivery
- ORTEX API. A documented REST API returning JSON or CSV: one stock's full history, a whole region on a single date, or your own universe in one call. A free test key gets a developer started in minutes.
- Whole-market daily files. An entire region's data for a date in a single request, complete before the US open and published only when the day is final.
- SFTP and cloud delivery. Scheduled daily files delivered over SFTP or straight to your own Amazon S3 bucket, for teams that load data into a warehouse rather than call an API.
- Python and Excel. A Python SDK for research pipelines and a native Microsoft Excel add-in, so the same numbers reach models and spreadsheets without re-keying.
- Feeds and alerts. RSS, webhooks and email for Market Intelligence and alerts, filterable by ticker, type, theme and severity.
- Platform and marketplaces. The ORTEX platform on web and mobile, and ORTEX data on Nasdaq Data Link, the Benzinga Data Marketplace and Exchange Data International.
| Formats | JSON, CSV, daily files over SFTP or S3 |
| Identifiers | Ticker and exchange, ISIN, FIGI, ORTEX ids |
| Point-in-time | Dated to when the market could first know it |
| Access | From single-stock plans to enterprise and redistribution licenses |
| Trial | Free test key; institutional trials on request |
Evaluation and samples
- Sample data for every dataset. Historical samples of any dataset in this brochure for the dates and universe you choose: whole-market files in CSV or Parquet for short interest, cost to borrow and availability, and API extracts for everything else.
- A data dictionary. A field-by-field dictionary for each dataset on request: names, types, units, identifiers, how each value is calculated, and how missing values are handled.
- Publication timing. Short data for trading day T is released before 08:00 ET on the next business day and dated T. Model inputs keep arriving until 05:00 ET, so it is under three hours old when it lands.
- Revisions policy. The value delivered for a date is the value as published. Revisions are made by hand and are very infrequent: only where a primary source published incorrect data at the time.
- Point-in-time history. Short-interest history uses only what was known on each date, for model training too, so a backtest sees what a desk would have seen. US short interest from 2018, every US option contract from 2012.
- Timing for everything else. Filings within a minute of publication, analyst actions every ten minutes, index forecasts before the open, alternative data as each publisher releases it, stamped with its publication date.
| Samples | Every dataset, on request |
| Formats | CSV or Parquet files; JSON or CSV over the API |
| Dictionary | Field level, on request |
| Short data | Before 08:00 ET on T+1, dated T |
| Revisions | Manual and rare; primary-source errors only |
| Trial | Institutional trials on the production API and files |
Why ORTEX data
- Measured, not claimed. Short-interest estimates scored against 2.1 million official prints. Index forecasts scored after every review. Alternative data tested for lead. The numbers are in this brochure.
- From the source. Regulators, exchanges, issuers and official statistics offices read directly, not resold second-hand. Every figure traces back to where and when it was published.
- Fast, every day. Insider and government filings within a minute of publication, short data before the US open and intraday, analyst actions every ten minutes, index forecasts before the open.
- Point-in-time throughout. Every dataset is dated to when the market could first have known it, and late corrections never rewrite history. Backtests see only what was knowable.
- Global and deep. 125,000 listings priced from 1964, 52,700 with daily short interest, insider data from more than 50 markets, alternative data from more than 50 countries.
- One integration. Every dataset shares one set of identifiers and one API, so adding the next dataset is a query, not a project.
